GENERAL PURPOSE:
Performs duties under the immediate supervision of Summer Camp Director and Assistant Camp Directors.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties as assigned.
Assists in providing a healthy environment, both physically and mentally, to ensure the operation of a quality summer camp program.
Assists in ensuring children are aware of rules, daily schedules, and routines.
Assists in the planning and implementation of daily activities that fit the children’s needs and interests.
Assume equal share of housekeeping chores such as cleaning, preparing for daily activities and cleaning up after projects.
Must interact and participate with the camp participants within the activities throughout the camp.
Must be able to swim and/or interact with camp participants within the shallow waters of the pool.
Treat each child with dignity and respect.
Remains up to date on emergency procedures.
Attends all meetings and training as required.
Must work closely with the demands of the Camp Director and Camp Assistant Directors in the implementation of the camp curriculum as provided by the Camp Director.
May be asked to fill in other roles as directed by the Assistant Camp Directors, Camp Director, or Recreation Superintendent.
Maintain a professional image in Belton Parks and in the community.
Complete CPR/First Aid/AED Training
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to the Summer Camp curriculum as directed by the Summer Camp Director and/or Summer Camp Assistant Director.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to exhibit a positive approach in public contact and a calm nature in problem solving situations.
Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
Subject to working some early morning and evening hours.
Ability to work with and supervise children in a variety of different settings.
Education and Experience:
Basic education equals 8 grades and a minimum of 14 years of age.
Previous experience with children is preferred.
Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must maintain a physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include working closely with others, elevated levels of public contact, and close interaction with children.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally more.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
The employee occasionally works in highs, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals.
The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock.
The working environment is moderately loud.
This job, at times, requires the employee to work outdoors, and within the elements of the outdoors.
Workers will be responsible for their own protection from all elements of the outdoors while working during camp events.
