POSITION PURPOSE AND EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Judicial Law Clerk: Performs legal research pertaining to motions, pleadings, and evidentiary issues; assists the Judge as necessary to ensure the efficiency of the Division; processes judgments and orders; schedules hearings and trials; prepares and processes case management, pending motion lists, and case inventories; communicates with attorneys as needed; acts as bailiff during jury trials; drafts orders; and drafts jury instructions.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school; no lawyer experience required, but such experience would be welcomed.
Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; produce clear, complete and logical reports, letters, memoranda, and legal documents; apply legal principles to individual cases and problems; analyze, appraise and organize facts, evidence, and precedents to prepare written recommendations or orders; make work decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, departmental policies, and ethical rules; deal effectively with the public to create a helpful atmosphere; and work independently.
