*The highly respected law firm of McDowell, Rice, Smith & Buchanan, located on the Country Club Plaza, seeks a top-notch Legal Assistant/Secretary.
This is a 40-hour a week position M-F, 100% in-office, serving as Legal Assistant for a Senior Partner and one other Partner.
You would replace a retiring assistant who has been there for 30 years.

*Duties involve:*
Invoice payment; travel arrangements; drafting, proofreading and revising pleadings and other documents; routine communication by phone, email and in person with legal clients; internal docketing and calendaring of deadlines, navigating online court docket systems; eFiling in state and federal courts; coordination of discovery; research and interpretation of local laws in various jurisdictions; other legal assistant duties as assigned.

Electronic filing in firmwide document management system (iManage).
Entering attorney time into the billing system (SurePoint/LMS).
Coordinating file openings and conflicts checks in SurePoint/LMS.
Handling personal financial duties of the Senior Partner (paying personal bills, balancing books, tracking insurance, handling credit card disputes, etc.
) (20% of desk).
*What the candidate will bring*:
At least 5-10 years administrative experience in a law firm, of which at least 3 years have been in a general litigation environment, either as a paralegal or a legal assistant/secretary performing at least some paralegal-level work.

Familiarity with Office 365 (Word) and at least some familiarity with Corel WordPerfect relating to document conversion/cleanup (migration and reformatting of documents from WordPerfect to Word).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (spelling, grammar, punctuation, proofreading).
Typing speed 70+ wpm.
Strong understanding of litigation cases start-to-finish, coordination of multiple docket/case management systems, identifying potentially billable work and delegating to paralegals as needed.
Prior experience with firm-wide electronic document management programs such as iManage or comparable.
High end word processing skills including redlining.
Familiarity with using macros is helpful.
The ability to start and complete work with very little supervision by the attorney.
Strong team spirit.
Excellent client relation skills.
