PARALEGAL II – FEDERAL BENEFITS
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
Legal Aid of Western Missouri is seeking a paralegal to assist in the area of federal benefits programs such as Social Security, SSI, and Medicare along with other general legal problems faced by low-income and elderly persons.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: interviewing new clients, primarily by telephone; documenting interviews; advising clients of legal rights and responsibilities by letter and phone; and assisting clients with administrative claims and appeals.
The qualified candidate must have the following:
Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, certificate in paralegal studies or equivalent experience
Knowledge of legal terminology and legal communication principles and practices
Experience in federal benefit program appeals helpful, but not required
Ability to speak a second language, preferred, but not required
General competency in Word and Excel
Salary: $21.
79/hour + DOE
