LEGAL AID OF WESTERN MISSOURI
STAFF ATTORNEY - ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UNIT
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
The Economic Development Unit of Legal Aid of Western Missouri is seeking a full-time attorney in one of its satellite offices in Kansas City, Missouri.
The attorney will work with inner-city neighborhood associations and local non-profit community development corporations on targeted inner-city community improvement initiatives.
This position will focus heavily on real estate transactions and civil land-use litigation with the target outcome being blight remediation, affordable housing preservation, and community re-investment.
The qualified candidate must have the following:
Active Missouri Bar license or eligible for licensure in Missouri through reciprocity
Computer proficiency
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Desire and commitment to assist in the delivery of high-quality legal assistance
Ability to speak a second language, preferred, but not required
Courtroom experience, preferred
Experience handling community development cases is preferred, but not required
Salary: $60,000 + DOE
