Experienced Municipal Court Clerk
We are seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Municipal Court Clerk.
As the Municipal Court Clerk, you will play a vital role in the efficient operation the City of Leawood's municipal court.

The position is eligible to receive merit based pay increases every year (merit increase up to 5.

Employees also receive a Time In Service Bonus every three years of employment on their anniversary date equal to 5% of their annual salary.
Summary of the Position: The Experienced Court Clerk a position that performs a variety of advanced clerical and customer service duties in support of the Municipal Court.
Responsibilities include processes and enters warrants in REJIS, prepares dockets and subpoenas and establishes and maintains various files; monitor diversions and probations and administer accordingly.
This position requires independent judgement with little to no review and guidance.
May perform additional routine functions within the Municipal Court such as fine collection, case processing, records management, assisting violators and/or their representatives by answering questions via telephone or in person about court dates, proceedings and/or polices and fine schedules.
General Overview of Responsibilities: Provides administrative support, information, and direction to employees, the public and outside agencies regarding the municipal court department.
Responds appropriately to inquiries regarding court procedures, appearances, and fines.
Maintains and updates confidential department files, including but not limited to court citations, fingerprinting records, and correspondences with the public.
Enters court activities into electronic and hardcopy court files, enters conviction and sentencing data, processes new tickets to achieve complete and accurate court records.
Follows standard procedures for preparing cases for disposition including obtaining all necessary records and preparing and maintaining the files for the plea, sentencing and trail dockets.
Processes motions, expungements and appeals filed with the court.
Assists in the daily court divisions and follow up activities, including but not limited to closing a case, ensuring continuance has been granted if requested, processing payments, completing required probation and/or division paperwork and ensuring proper paperwork has been sent and filed with the required state agencies.
Responsible for preparing and monitoring the paperwork and case status for all defendants who are on diversion and probation until final disposition of such cases.
Keeps City Prosecutor’s Office apprised of all case statuses.
Responsible for preparing warrants as ordered by the Judge; ensuing all warrants are based on true and accurate information.
May provide daily guidance, direction and training to court staff.
Acts as resource to other Court Clerks.
Verifies information in the court software system and criminal justice databases is accurate, submits information to various state agencies and performs monthly warrant audits.
Assists Court Administration with coordination of video arraignment hearings, public defender and interpreters.
Assists in fingerprinting during Municipal Court sessions.
May serve as Court Record Custodian.
May assume responsibility of court supervisor duties in the absence of the Court Supervisor.
May be responsible for reviewing Quality Control Reports to ensure court files, paper and electronic, are complete and accurate.
May act as point of contact for bonding companies, collecting forfeited bonds and notifying bonding companies of forfeitures.
Minimum Requirements: Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Five (5) years of experience as a Municipal Court Clerk or Police Communication Officer or equivalent experience.
Must have or be able to obtain REJIS and NCIC certification within six months of hire.
Must be able to obtain any other required authorization to access criminal history record information as required from various governing agencies.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per the City’s drivers Use of Vehicles for City Business policy throughout employment with the City.
