Summary:
Metrology Engineer shall be responsible for both theoretical and practical aspects of measurement.
This includes measurement guidance and support in Metrology Labs, Analytical Science Labs, Test Equipment, NMNSC, and other areas of manufacturing.
This includes support for performance of calibrations, special measurements, measurement experiments, and maintenance of measurement equipment.
The Engineer will devise new testing methods and calibration procedures, perform measurement uncertainty analysis, review calibrations, write technical and calibration reports, and specify / procure measurement equipment.
Metrology Engineer will also be involved with Plant Directed Research and Development (PDRD) projects to further mission.
This includes:
Projects with Primary Standards Lab on current calibration/measurement concerns.
Projects for know future calibration requirements outside of current capabilities.
Projects where current calibration requirements necessitate outsourcing or limited calibrations.
Projects that will reduce measurement uncertainty and flow time significantly
Metrology Engineer performs project management and design, development, evaluation, and quality control functions on highly complex engineering projects, regularly offering innovative solutions to significant technical problems
Applies mathematical, physical science, and advanced engineering technologies in accomplishing engineering objectives
Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
Recognized authority within area of expertise with wide versatility of experience and capability
You Must Have:
US Citizenship (capable of obtaining and maintaining a government security clearance)
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university, Physics, or related technical field
Seven or more years of relevant experience in engineering or related technical activities.
