Job Description:
Responsible for leading and managing a strategic and tactical array of HR operations, including compensation, retirement, health and wellbeing benefits and HR employee services.
Additional responsibility for functional elements of HR, such HRIS management, workforce analytics, HR regulatory requirements and ensuring an excellent employee experience.
Serves as the primary point of contact with Finance, including payroll, IT and the Workday team to ensure efficient, effective and accurate workflows.
Essential Responsibilities: Leads the design, administration, vendor relations and ongoing evaluation of all compensation, retirement plans, benefits, including self-insured employee health plan, and HR well-being programs to create a compelling employee proposition that attracts top talent to KCU.
Ensures that HR processes are developed and performed in compliance with all legal and organizational requirements, standards, and procedures.
Responsible for completing and filing annual compliance reports including the annual 5500s as well as the PCORI tax calculation, collaborating with payroll and finance departments as needed.
Primary point of contact for the HR department with KCU’s Workday and Business Process Support team to optimize the Workday platform, end user experience and maximize the HRIS capabilities of the Workday HCM system.
Optimize HRIS to meet workforce and compliance requirements and create opportunities for automation, reporting, and reduction of manual processes; researches and recommends advancements in HR technology.
Leads HR’s well-being program in collaboration with the Associate Provost of Campus Health and Wellness, to align and execute the HR well-being program with the KCU organizational wellness strategies.
Oversees and assures alignment on salary planning/compensation, market analysis, internal equity, promotions, interim assignments, reclassifications, transfers, and compliance with FLSA and applicable labor agreements.
Ensures that compensation and other total rewards initiatives are in alignment with the University’s mission, vision and values and in stewardship of the University resources; researches and recommends enhancements and changes to offerings or processes.
Leads the configuration of the annual increases for merit; completes annual increases within Workday for any promotions or market adjustments.
Partners with Associate Director of Internal Communications to manage and administer the communication plans for retirement, benefits, well-being, compensation changes, compliance, and rewards strategies.
Creates and maintains all employee data reports, survey data, compensation, benefits and demographic information reports; develops metrics related to employee analytics to drive the department’s programs and priorities.
Oversees and manages HR compliance functions including leading HR audits, documentation, and testing; ensuring internal policies, work instructions and processes support compliance requirements.
Essential Qualifications: Knowledge typically obtained through a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar field.
Experience administering, managing and evaluating employee benefit plans, particularly self-insured employee health insurance plans.
Familiarity and experience negotiating with health carriers.
5+ years HR related experience, with 3 or more years of experience leading and directing the work of others.
Strong proficiency in HRIS systems (preferably Workday), MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Broad knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws, practices and procedures, and current best practice pertaining to total rewards administration and development.
Knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding equity, diversity, inclusion, and implicit bias.
Must demonstrate excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and follow-through required.
Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and build effective working relationships with colleagues and staff.
Experience analyzing, creating, and evaluating policies and procedures and formulating recommendations.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and previous experience working independently with multiple priorities and deadlines.
