This position provides leadership and direction in loading and unloading techniques, receiving procedures, yard organization, inventory handling and control, yard vehicle maintenance and the promotion of a safe working environment.
A Yard Manager generally supervises a department of up to 15 Yard Loaders.
The Yard Manager is involved with all plant personnel including hiring, employee development, terminations and disciplinary actions.
This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required.
The Yard Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager.
Primary Job Responsibilities: The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working record and environment Facilitation of departmental communication and meetings Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts or injuries to Plant Manager Conducting cycle-counts Practice proper forklift and yard vehicle operation and preventive maintenance Management of product rotation Maintain yard housekeeping, organization and layout Assurance of maximized payloads Maintain and build job skills through company training programs Ensuring departmental policy compliance Communication with Dispatcher regarding relative issues Management of departmental training Organization of daily loading sequence Department personnel administration Yard vehicle maintenance schedule compliance Maximization of departmental labor efficiencies Minimization of loading errors Coordination of DOT stock lots Minimization of departmental overtime Finished Goods quality inspections Management of product conversions Confirmation of customer orders (ASN) Management of yard organization, layout and map Management of L/MH certification programs Management of CPU’s and RMA’s Understand and practice ADS CORE VALUES Promote a positive and transparent work environment Ensure proper management of operating supply purchases via the internal PO system or company credit card Job Skills: This position should possess the following skills/knowledge: Professionalism and leadership skills Familiarity with BOM products Time management and organizational skills Operating system functions including inventory & order entry procedures Communication skills Basic computer skills Knowledge of all ADS products Familiarity with miscellaneous & resale products Freight management Inventory management Receiving procedures Mathematical skills Knowledge of local shipping regulations Forklift & OTR vehicle driving skills Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent Vocational or Associates Degree preferred Preferred Experience: 3-5 years experience as an ADS Yard Loader Supervisory experience Physical Requirements: Ability to repeatedly lift 75 pounds to a height of 6 feet Ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hours Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time in temperature extremes Ability to use hands, arms and legs to physically handle and transport finished goods Position requires full range of body motion including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting and ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles Benefits: We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefits program including: Medical Dental Vision Retirement Plan Paid Holidays/ Vacation Days $170 Boot Reimbursement And much more EEO Statement: ADS supports an inclusive workplace that values diversity of thought, experience, and background.
