Position Details Job Code: AA012FTEASD Department: Adult and Continuing Education Division: Educational Innovation and Global Programming Reports to: Director of Adult and Continuing Education Positions Supervised: Program Instructors Location: Primarily Main Campus, but any location assigned by the appropriate administrator Job Purpose The Assistant Director of Continuing Education Programs at Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) plays a crucial role in the overall success of our diverse student population.
This position serves at the lead teaching staff for the Continuing and Community Education programs and is primarily responsible for overseeing and enhancing Continuing and Community Education courses and programs, ensuring that students have access to high-quality instruction and support.
The Assistant Director (AD) will collaborate with the Adult & Continuing Education Team staff, and administrators, college stakeholders to develop and implement effective Continuing and Community Education programs, assess student progress, and provide leadership in addressing the unique needs of our student community.
This position provides educational opportunities and services to include scheduling classes, workshops, programs, and seminars.
The AD is responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of all aspects of continuing and community education and youth programming, including on-line classes, in the college's service areas of Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties.
The AD explores and implements new programs or classes that fill community needs and requests.
Position Description Lead Teaching Staff for Continuing and Community Education: • Curriculum development • Instruction assessment General: • Attends appropriate professional development opportunities to keep current with latest trends and quality programming in the non-credit arena.
• Assist with the development & supervision of Kids on Campus summer program and other youth programs to be developed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Collaboration and Outreach: • Collaborate with other departments and community organizations to strengthen Continuing and Community Education program partnerships and resources.
• Engage with the local community to promote programs and foster community involvement.
• Develops social media and marketing outreach.
Budget Management: • Assist in the development and management of the program budget, ensuring the efficient use of resources.
• Develop and Manage grant funds.
• Draft financial models for new programs and partnerships.
Cultural Competency and Inclusivity: • Promote an inclusive and culturally responsive environment for students, fostering a sense of belonging and equity.
• Advocate for diversity and inclusivity in program development and delivery.
Assessment and Data Analysis: • Implement assessment tools and procedures to measure the progress and success of Continuing and Community Education students.
• Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance Continuing and Community Education program outcomes.
Teaching Staff Development and Training: • Organize professional development opportunities for Community and Continuing Education teaching staff, including workshops and training sessions.
• Mentor and provide guidance to instructors to enhance their teaching methods and effectiveness.
Student Support and Services: • Provide guidance and support to Continuing and Community Education students in their academic journey, addressing their educational and instructional needs.
• Collaborate with Student Services to develop and coordinate Continuing and Community Education student support programs, such as tutoring, counseling, and workshops.
• Assist in the recruitment and retention of Continuing and Community Education students.
Program Development and Enhancement: • Collaborate with college faculty and department heads to design, develop, and revise Continuing and Community Education courses and curriculum that align with best practices and meet the needs of the college and community.
• Identify and implement innovative teaching strategies and technologies to enhance Continuing and Community Education instruction.
• Stay up to date with trends and research in Continuing Education to ensure program relevance.
• Develops and implements special projects and on-line courses.
• Maintains records and reports of all Continuing and Community Education programs and provides these documents to the Director of Adult and Continuing Education as requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
• Must demonstrate a commitment to and ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population.
• Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships and establish credibility with all levels of employees in the organization.
• Detail oriented.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to manage several projects with multiple deadlines simultaneously.
• Must have excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Must be able to meet deadlines for program implementation and planning.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Proficiency in data analysis and assessment methodologies.
Position Qualifications and/or Education Minimum Qualifications and/or Education • Master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Continuing Education program development and administration.
• At least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications and/or Education • Five (5) years working in an education environment.
• Demonstrated experience building partnerships with business and industry.
• Experience in college enrollment systems.
• Experience maintaining and working with computer or web-based database.
• Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.
Work Schedule 40 hours per week, during regular hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.

- 5:00 p.
m.
Must be able to work variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs.
May require evening and weekend hours, frequent travel and must be able to work evening and weekend hours when required.
