Henderson Building Solutions is seeking a Regional Director of Mission Critical to join their team in the Lenexa, KS office.
The Mission Critical Regional Director oversees all construction managers, site superintendents, jobsite construction, execution, scheduling, and client development for the mission critical business unit.
They have financial responsibility for that region and oversight of budget, profit, and cost projections as defined by the Vice President.
The Regional Director works with the teams to ensure internal management processes are being deployed and benchmarks are being met in the region.
The Mission Critical Regional Director also establishes and maintains client contacts to plan and grow the business unit in the respective region.
They establish and communicate best practices in scheduling, SOW production, Procore implementation and other monthly forecasting benchmarks, and hold construction and commissioning staff accountable.
The Mission Critical Regional Director drives a best-in-class client experience internally and externally.
Minimum Qualifications for the Role are: • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of construction, business, or engineering preferred.
Common examples include Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Science, Construction Engineering, Construction Management.
• 4 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of requisite education.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a construction related field required, with experience in construction contract requirements and administration as well as experience in the design of mechanical/electrical systems.
• Experience with various mechanical, electrical and controls systems required.
• Project management, estimating and field installation supervision experience required.
• Proficiency in writing scopes of work into subcontract exhibits required.
• Effective project management skills required.
• Technical expertise in primary fields of focus (mechanical and/or electrical) as well as familiarity with other related fields required.

• Well-versed in the language and inherent risk in standard owner and subcontracts and ability to implement contract documents in the best interests of the company.

• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards relating to the facilities in which we work.
• Efficient communication skills.
• Procore experience preferred.
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

• Generates ideas for improvement, takes advantage of opportunities and suggests innovations.
• Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Skills and Duties you will be Responsible for while in this role: Construction & Personnel Management: • Directs the activities of all construction managers, site superintendents and commissioning managers in region for construction projects and oversees the project development group.
• Plans and sets construction objectives, goals, methods, schedules, and strategies for projects.
• Ensures projects are deployed safely, timely and profitably and all invoices are collected.
• Reports on project financial budget status and progress to the VP.
• Stays up to date on best practices and makes recommendations on practice or policy changes or enhancements.
• Develops and maintains standards and processes that are client specific.
• Implements changes as necessary.
Design Coordination: • Coordinates with design teams to take projects from the assessment (schematic) level to final completion of construction documents.
• Makes recommendations regarding the feasibility of systems and/or equipment and evaluates construction products and methods for the application as needed.
• Identifies and coordinates with external consultants to ensure projects are comprehensive.
• Schedules design related activities.
Reviews design plans to ensures standards are met.
Pre-Construction Coordination: • Assembles and finalizes contractual and general requirements of construction documents in concert with pre-construction services.
• Coordinates with pre-construction to ensure client requirements are incorporated into construction documents.
• Assists in the development of accurate budgets for all projects that reflect all costs associated with construction.
• Implements contract documents in the best interests of the company.
Safety Compliance & Facility Coordination: • Ensures a safe and efficient work environment is driven as part of our culture for all staff and subcontractors.
• Verifies all teams and other supporting personnel are practicing and meeting all OSHA, Henderson Building Solutions, client and industry approved safety standards.
Project Development: • Provides leadership for assessment teams.
• Schedules, coordinates and reviews assessment site visits, reports, and budgets.
• Performs on-site investigations on facility issues, troubleshoots solutions and identifies project risks, proactively mitigating potentially negative outcomes.
• Provides subject matter expertise and is the driving force behind providing solutions to problems that are presented and unifying key team members to advance the solution.
• Collaborates with project development, construction management and engineering design teams to formulate solutions that best align with client interests.
• Coordinates with clients to ensure client requirements are incorporated into recommendations.
Business Development: • Protects the best interest of the client and preserves and enhances the reputation and profitability of Henderson Building Solutions.
• Assists with business development activities by promoting Henderson Companies to existing and potential clients.
• Participates in client, company, and industry events.
• Grows personal network by building relationships with clients and industry professionals.
Technical Leadership: • Drives outcomes and owns the results to drive outcomes, owns the results, and exhibits a proactive, adaptable, and solutions-driven leadership style with a growth mindset, integrity, and a commitment to excellence.
• Builds collaborative relationships with a demonstrated ability to support the business development process by engendering trust and ensuring client satisfaction.
• Serves as a technical resource for employees.
• Mentors and trains employees.
• Assists team members with questions and escalated issues.
• Assists with the development and implementation of engineering related training programs like design assist.
• Responsible for the maintenance of HBS master documents as they relate in a client specific need (equipment specifications, project 0/1 specifications, TAB, general mechanical, and electrical and general mechanical/electrical notes for drawings).
