POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Grounds/Custodial Team Lead is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for Zoo & Aquarium visitors.
The duties include, but are not limited to, working independently while sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, cleaning surfaces with disinfectant, and emptying trash and recycling cans.
Additionally, under direction, the Grounds/Custodial Team Lead oversees the daily routines for all aspects of the Grounds/Custodial Staff, within an assigned area.
This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position that requires both leadership abilities and a team focused mindset.
This is a full time position working a flexible evening and weekend schedule.

Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting with the assignment of daily tasks, routines, event setup and tear down.
Performing inspections to ensure cleanliness, completion, and quality control of tasks, buildings, and event spaces.
Litter control in all areas of the Zoo & Aquarium including but not limited to parking lots, walking paths, grassy areas, buildings, and event spaces.
Maintaining cleanliness of all facilities, including but not limited to restrooms, administrative areas, buildings, and event spaces.
Frequently emptying trash receptacles and recycling.
Organizing and cleaning outside eating areas.
Regularly working with bodily fluids.
Setting up, cleaning, monitoring, and tearing down special events.
Greeting and welcoming all guests.
Assisting with all guests’ needs, including questions, inquiries, and directions.

Safely operate equipment such as trash compactors, floor scrubbers, pressure washers, orbital buffers, leaf blowers, snow blowers, and extractors.

Performs snow removal, as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
EXPERIENCE:
Ability to interact with all types of people professionally and effectively.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to make immediate decisions pertaining to safety.
Can move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
Assistance depending upon task or role.
Must be able to constantly move and position oneself to complete work for extended periods of time.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evening hours, in all weather extremes.
Must pass a background and drug screening.
