Purpose of the Role/Role Overview:
Provide direct support and supervision to the Drafting and Traffic Control Drafting staff to ensure performance standards and timelines are met for the creation of Permits, Traffic Control Plans and Maps in support of fiber network builds for multiple jurisdictions.
This position will require the individual to work out of the Corporate Office located in Overland Park, KS, this will not be a remote position.
General Duties / Key Responsibilities:
Manage teams production and quality.
Plan and assign work
Evaluate team performance and manage PTO.
Be the liaison between the drafters, designers, and external clients.
Mentor staff members on an ongoing basis
Write processes and train as needed
Required Training/Licenses/Certifications:
Associates Degree or greater preferred
3+ years on the job experience
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
Required Technical Experience:
Have a solid understanding of drafting techniques and a familiarity with engineering terminology.
Minimum of two years of experience supervising drafters
Must have knowledge an understanding of temporary traffic control plans for the construction of telecommunications facilities in the public right-of-way using standards as defined by the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the Work Area Traffic Control Handbook (WATCH) including the implementation of basic traffic engineering principles.
Ability to work with the Governing office to locate Right- Of-Way (ROW) lines, if needed.
Advanced with AutoCAD 2006 or higher with a preference to Telecom or Utilities.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products, Google Earth Maps, and routine office equipment.
Additional Technical experience desired but not required:
ArcGIS, QGIS, Rapid Plan

Must be detail-oriented, with leadership skills.
Self-Starter
Advanced Written and Verbal Communication Skills.
Ability to work independently and with moderate supervision or as a part of a team.
Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
