FOR SALE:KAWAI UST-8C PROFESSIONAL STUDIO UPRIGHT PIANO, 46" tall.
Satin oak cabinet, non-glossy matte finish, with matching bench.
Assembled in the USA, with most of the internal action parts made in Japan.
It has a nice, moderate touch, and the playing action is highly consistent.
It has a lot of power for its size (rivaling many 48" uprights), with a warmer than average tone.
The hammer heads on most pianos are maple wood.
but these are mahogany, which is a denser hardwood, that gives it some extra volume.
As with baby grands, the top lid is hinged, so you can fold it back partially or fully, if you want to enhance the volume and brightness to suit your personal preference or the room acoustics.
In addition to the soft pedal, it has 2 sustain pedals - the normal full sustain, plus a bass sustain.
It has large double rubber casters instead of small steel ones, so you can move it around the room, or from room to room, without damaging floors, and without the need of a dolly.
The quality and features are very
comparable to Yamaha's 45" professional studio upright, model P22, but the UST-8C is much less common, so used ones are hard to find.
Compared to Kawai's decorative "furniture style" console models, and the entry-level 500 series studio uprights, this is a few inches taller, and has deeper bass, and a much fuller, richer sound.
CONDITION: LIKE NEW, cosmetically and mechanically.
Recently tuned to standard A440 pitch.
The action was fully regulated; cleaned inside and out.
Excellent tone.
The bass strings are actually longer than those on a baby grand, so the depth and power of the bass notes is surprisingly good for its size.
Very consistent, moderate playing action.
One owner.
Minimal internal wear.
Fully regulated.
The tuning pins are nice and tight, so it has no problem staying in tune.
STUDIO STYLE UPRIGHT PIANOS are designed to satisfy the demands of music schools and other institutions, for a piano that has maximum quality, reliability and durability, minimal decorative frills, a moderate size, and easy portability.
It's the first choice of many people for home use, too.
The legs are reinforced with toe blocks, so they're unbreakable.
To hold sheet music, there is a built-in shelf that runs the full length of the piano, instead of a small fold-down tray.
KAWAI PIANO CO.
has been making fine quality pianos since the company was founded in Japan in 1927.
Pianos and keyboards are still their main business.
Today they are Japan's 2nd largest piano maker, next to Yamaha.
In addition to their own pianos, Kawai also manufactures the "Boston Piano" line for Steinway and Sons.
Yamaha sells more pianos than Kawai, but both companies get a 4-star rating for the performance and reliability of their uprights in "The Piano Book" by Larry Fine (the #1 buyer's guide for used pianos).
Many of Kawai's smaller uprights are now manufactured in Indonesia, but this one was made in the USA, with internal action parts made in Japan.
