*POSITION TITLE* – Development & Communications Specialist
*REPORTS TO* – Director | _Resource Development_
*STATUS *- Full-time, 37.
5 hours per week | Non-exempt *SALARY RANGE* - $45,000 to $50,000 annually Sunflower House is a Child Advocacy Center serving Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas.
We provide care and comfort to children who have experienced abuse.
We are a place of hope and healing for children and their families.
We provide child assessment services for child victims, family advocacy for parents and caregivers, and therapy for children and adults.
We provide extensive abuse prevention and awareness programs for children and adults.
The Development and Communications Specialist is an integral part of the development team.
Manages Sunflower House communications, creating engaging content across all channels.
Coordinates campaigns and serves as the primary volunteer manager.
Coordinates community outreach events.
Supports fundraising events and manages campaigns.
Our new Development and Communications Specialist will join the Sunflower House team at a time of exciting growth and opportunity.

*SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES* *Communications and Marketing* * Serve as the primary communications coordinator and storyteller for Sunflower House.
* Create, manage, and evaluate an annual communications plan and calendar.
* Manage all social media, creating engaging graphics and content.
* Cultivate relationships with media personalities/contacts and social media influencers.
* Update the Sunflower House website regularly.
* Manage the production of agency and event print and digital communications.
*Event and Campaign Management* * Serve as the primary campaign manager for the Circle of Safety Virtual Campaign.
* Manage the Annual Child Abuse Prevention Month campaign and activities.
* Work closely with the Resource Development Director on the annual End of Year Campaign.
* Manage the Valentine Gala silent and live auction committee.
* Assist the Resource Development Director in identifying and cultivating sponsors and donors.
* Help the Development Coordinator manage the OneCause platform and other fundraising tools.
*Volunteer Management and Community Outreach* * Manage the _Friends of Sunflower House_ volunteer group.
* Primary contact for community outreach events: booths, fairs, etc.
* Coordinate volunteers for projects, fundraising events, outreach, and agency committees.
* Host volunteer training and orientation for active volunteers and prospects.
* Manage the volunteer database; track and record all volunteer hours.
*Additional Expectations* * Outgoing, personable demeanor; ability to engage volunteers, donors, partners, and sponsors.
* Remain current on best practices for Child Advocacy Centers, nonprofit communications, and development/fundraising.
* Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Creative in developing social media campaigns and motivating volunteers.
* Ability to build long-term relationships on behalf of Sunflower House.
* Attend agency functions, special events, and meetings.
* Must demonstrate professional appearance, pleasant telephone, and interpersonal skills.
* Respectful of cultural differences and demonstrate appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.
* Flexible scheduling as some evening and weekend hours will be required.
* Ability to handle multiple projects with confidence and ease.
* Other duties as assigned.
*POSITION REQUIREMENTS* * Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, communications, fundraising, nonprofit management, or related field.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in communications, social media, and/or marketing * Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, creativity, and storytelling skills.
* Experience with WordPress, CANVA, Constant Contact, Adobe, or other graphic design software.
* Highly skilled at using Microsoft Office, Google, PowerPoint, and Excel.
* Lift 25 pounds routinely.
* Bend, sit and stoop regularly.
* Work in an often stressful environment, requiring quick thinking in difficult situations.
* Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel in and around the region.
*OTHER * * Bilingual in Spanish is a major plus.
* Experience in event planning, volunteer management, and/or development is preferred, but not required.
* Experience with OneCause, DonorPerfect or other fundraising software is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
