Primary Responsibilities:
This position is for a Make Product engineer within round wire and flex cable technologies.
Their primary job responsibilities will be to work directly with the Design Agencies to ensure that the cable definition is able to be fabricated within allowable schedule and budget.
Additionally, they will be required to work with other business functions including program management, manufacturing engineers and quality engineers to report on the status of the project.
They will be assigned part responsibility for products in all phases of the manufacturing life cycle.
Participates in establishing operating procedures on new products and components.
Compiles cost estimates and delivery quotations, monitors performance, and prepares reports, statistics, and recommendations for management review.
Plans and performs engineering testing and development programs and uses advanced statistical and scientific methods to address and resolve engineering and production problems and to assure product manufacturability.
Refines product definitions, based on knowledge of manufacturing capability, to assure that released designs can be produced.
Determines acceptability of products and materials in conjunction with design agency and other affected organizations.
Interacts with design agencies and suppliers to assist in resolving design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
Prepares evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies, makes recommendations, and initiates the most cost-effective improvements for product, test equipment, procedures, and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and quality and reduce flowtime.
Provides project leadership and technical guidance on complex engineering projects.
May perform other duties as required, including but not limited to short term projects supporting mechanical design on telemetry systems.
You Must Have:
US citizenship to obtain and maintain a US Department of Energy Q level security clearance.
Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from and accredited program.
Four or more years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
We Value:
Previous experience with flex round wire or flex cables, interconnects and backshell design and manufacturing.
Greenbelt, Blackbelt or Lean Expert certification.
