Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for routine tasks associated with the installation, service and calibration of a diverse range of biomedical instrumentation used in manufacture, storage, and diagnostic testing applications.
Essential Functions:
• Regular and prompt attendance.
• Performs scheduled calibration, validation, and preventive maintenance of portable equipment/instruments (e.
g.
, Hemaflow, countertop centrifuges, thermometers, blood pressure cuffs, tube sealers, etc.
This list is not all inclusive).
• Performs pre-installation validation prior to new equipment use.
• Performs equipment/instrumentation repair when appropriate.
• Demonstrates initiative and concern for planning, time utilization, and cost containment.
• Exemplifies CBC’s Customer Service Mission and Core Values.
Other Functions:
• Maintains accurate and timely records/documents related services performed on each piece of equipment or instrument.
• Communicates and interprets intermediate information in English to all members of the public and CBC staff.
• Makes recommendations to improve organizational processes.
• Any related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
Work requires a background in electronics, typically acquired through a two year certificate or Associates Degree program in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology, or equivalent work experience, to become familiar with biomedical devices common to a blood center facility.
Experience:
One to two years of work experience in electronics, mechanical, biomedical, or performing duties in a related area.
Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge:
Working knowledge of electronics, mechanical, or electro-mechanical device repair.
Knowledge of a variety of software applications (e.
g.
, Microsoft Office Suite).
Skills & Abilities:
Maintenance Skills: Maintenance skills in electronics, mechanical, or electro-mechanical device repair.
Ability read wiring, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to use appropriate electronics test equipment to troubleshoot electronics and electro-mechanical systems.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to perform basic statistical analysis of sample data (e.
g.
, Mean, Standard Deviation, Coefficient of Variation).
Strong attention to detail in all work processes.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
High level of interpersonal skills to handle a variety of complex issues and situations.
Position requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy in dealing with a variety of staff up to and including executive leadership.
Ability to communicate clearly and with authority, both in writing and verbally, to others in one-on-one or small group settings.
