Job Summary: The Senior Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading engineering efforts for Aero Transportation Productions, a subsidiary of Wabtec Components LLC.
This person will be response leading a team of Engineers and a Draftsman to improve manufacturing processes for two sites, existing products, as well as developing new product offerings.
In this role, you will have significant influence across functional teams (Commercial, Sourcing, Engineering, Production), be accountable for delivering results associated with engineering product developments and engineering product improvements, and technical leadership to drive ideas and solutions required to lead the Aero Transportation Products Engineering department.
The department is responsible for current design Rail Car Hatch Cover and Outlet Gate products including development of new products which are determined to fit our product portfolio.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities: Manage and coach a team of Mechanical, Design, and Manufacturing Engineers, as well as Draftsmen.
Work directly with operations management to develop more efficient production processes in the areas of fiberglass manufacturing and steel / aluminum fabrications.
Provide company product technical support for a cross-functional team, such as Sales, Customer Service, and Operations.
Investigate and resolve various quality field issues and participate in failure analysis activities when needed.
Generate technical data and reports necessary to obtain customer (Class I railroad, OEM Carbuilder, end user) and regulatory product approval (American Association of Railroads).
Work directly with internal production teams to onboard new manufacturing technologies and processes.
This would include identifying necessary manufacturing equipment needed for procurement and design of internal fixtures to facilitate part assemblies.
Work with internal Sourcing and Production teams to identify incremental product design adjustments to reduce overall company costs while maintaining necessary quality and safety.
Required: Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field is required.
Minimum of 5 plus years of experience in the areas of Engineering, Operations, and supporting industrial organizations are required.
Minimum of 5 plus years of experience supporting an operations unit in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
High proficiency and experience in drafting/solid modeling using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD software.
Desired Characteristics: Demonstrated knowledge of product offerings is preferred.

Effective communication and presentation skills.
Rail products, services, industry knowledge, and technical depth and breadth.
Rail customer contact relationships established across regulator American Association of Railroads and Wabtec customers – Class I’s and Car builders.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Strong business, technical, and operations acumen.
High proficiency in standard software applications included in Microsoft Office Suite.
Travel: This position requires travel, up to 25%.
Most travel is outside the local area and overnight.
