Job Description Job Description Summary: Provides journeyman level carpentry skills and knowledge to construct, alter, and repair hospital structures, furniture, equipment, and fixtures made of wood or similar materials.
Work instructions may be written or oral and are accompanied by sketches or drawings.
Operates various types of woodworking equipment.
Work is inspected during the process and upon completion.
Receives direction or instruction on a daily basis regarding tasks to be completed and priorities.
Minimum requirements: 1.
High school diploma or the equivalent GED 2.
Two years experience as a journeyman carpenter 3.
Must be member of local carpenters' union 4.
Possess working knowledge of pertinent sections of municipal building codes 5.
Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the carpentry trade 6.
Knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment of the carpentry trade 7.
Must be able to work from written and oral instructions, sketches, and drawings 8.
If driving is a requirement of the employee, he/she must meet the requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy and must continue to meet these requirements as a condition of employment 9.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance to carry equipment and supplies 10.
Ability to provide assistants to others in lifting objects greater than 50 pounds 11.
Possess good dexterity, balance, and coordination to work from ladders and scaffolding.
12.
Position requires standing, lifting, climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, pulling, squatting, and walking 13.
Must be able to wear half mask respirator to comply with OSHA requirements.
