Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering (KIWE) has an immediate opening for an Engineering Project Manager with primary focus on the Municipal Water treatment arenas of Drinking Water, Desalination, Advanced Water Reuse, and Groundwater Remediation as part of our expanding and highly successful Water group based in Lenexa, KS, USA.
Selected candidates will be in a Project Management role within our collaborative and engaging organization that is developing water infrastructure solutions that seamlessly transition from project development to design plans to completed projects that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit’s legacy of excellence.
At Kiewit, Engineering Project Managers are an integral part of our overall project management teams with direct access to Engineering and Construction leaders across the organization and an ability to impact all facets of project designs.
Engineering Project Managers have primary responsibility for administering and managing design activities of Kiewit design teams and external partners on municipal water and wastewater/biosolids collaborative delivery design-build projects and pursuits.
Engineering Project Managers are expected to drive the team to meet project financial, schedule, and project objectives, consistent with Kiewit's standard operating procedures.
Assignments range from leadership in project development, pursuits, estimates, design execution, to supporting construction and facility commissioning/start-up.

The Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and control, structural, civil and buildings disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge Kiewit district with best-in-class technical expertise primarily focused on collaborative Design-Build (progressive and/or fixed price) and EPCC delivery models for complex water projects.
The team brings project solutions to life across North America in the following areas: • Water Treatment • Potable Municipal and Groundwater Desalination • Advanced Water Reuse • Groundwater Remediation • Stormwater Recycling • Industrial Water Treatment • Wastewater Treatment • Biosolids Treatment • Pipelines and Conveyance LOCATION Lenexa, KS (Kansas City area) or Lone Tree, CO (Denver area) preferred; Remote full consideration.
RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership • Function as an established representative of Kiewit’s brand, readily supporting business development and integral to the win strategy, partner division of responsibilities, and integrated scopes of work • Collaborate with the regional Water Markets & Strategy professionals to interface with customers to support project and business development needs (client meetings, proposal messaging, interviews) • Identify current and future pursuit and/or project risks along with development of mitigation strategies • Manage and interpret data and results for multiple projects such that sound business decisions can be made based on these results Pursuit & Project Performance Leadership • Management responsibility during the SOQ/RFP proposal development phases for pursuit opportunities ensuring technical design contract compliance, design execution strategy development, technical proposal content accuracy, risk assessments and performance guarantees • Management responsibility for project engineering performance consistent with contractual documents, quality plans and corporate policies: financial, integrated schedule, client relations, deliverable quality, project technical risk mitigation, performance guarantees, and technical design contract compliance • Facilitates effective communication and resolves conflicts that arise through partnering with design team, construction, permitting agencies, and other key project stakeholders • Promotes, plans and coordinates activities consistent with design-build best practices with all Kiewit stakeholders, including constructability reviews, value engineering, risk management, schedule compliance and quantity management • Ensures proper coordination of technical details across multiple engineering disciplines • Supports construction priorities and ensures their implementation through the design • Plans and communicates needs for Kiewit Engineering resources to support projects • Share best practices and execution experience to set project teams up for success Community/Industry Leadership • Involvement in the community and industry as an influential leader through participation in organizations and memberships Mentorship • Provide technical mentorship of engineering and design staff to become future leaders by assisting in employee development, training, recruiting, retention QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's Degree in engineering in any discipline from an accredited university • Advanced Technical or Business Degree – MS, MBA (preferred) • Professional Engineer (PE) registration • 10+ years’ experience in project/program management, engineering design, estimating, and start-up/commissioning of municipal water/wastewater projects with focus on Design-Build / EPCC project delivery • Knowledge and application of collaborative project delivery methods (PDB, FPDB, CMAR, DBOOM, DBFOM, P3).
• Well versed and knowledgeable in supplier, vendor, designer, and subcontractor coordination and interface management • Appreciation and understanding of the operations of other functions (e.
g.
Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, SQS, Business Management, Estimating, etc.
