Reporting to the Production Supervisor, Metal, this role operates a wide variety of machine tools and also has skills and knowledge to create accurate set ups for grinders, lathes, and other complex machinery.
The Millwright is a strong team player with a positive attitude, is willing to take direction as well as be a self-starter and enjoys working in a creative, problem solving, and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONSmay include but are not limited to: Reviews engineering drawings and project specifications to ensure all required parts for the project are properly aligned and fitted Operates and maintains lathe and milling machines with no assistance Follows all lockout/tagout procedures and self performs preventative maintenance to ensure maximum life for the machines Calibrates appropriate tolerance level based on materials Responsible for procedures such as cutting, squaring, milling, drilling, tapping and boring Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete projects Can proficiently adjust feeds, maintain temperatures, and make critical adjustments to tooling as needed Checks output for quality assurance, discards defects and documents changes made Maintains tool inventory and identifies need for machine maintenance or minor repairs Communicates as-built drawings and provides constructive feedback to their Manager, Project Engineer and the lead Design Engineer assigned to project Operates precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, drop gauges, and gage blocks Consistently and accurately completes daily timesheet Can operate the gantry with no assistance Always keeps a safe and clean workstation Fulfills other production duties, including assisting the Metal Fabrication team as assigned and as needed KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Excellent fabrication and mechanical skills Strong understanding of reading engineering drawings and fabricating from them Strong attention to detail/accuracy Follows safe operations and is aware of safety procedures and regulations, including the required use of PPE Highly collaborative with a consistently positive attitude Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficient in math and geometry Proficient with fractions, decimals - both standard and metric Exhibits advanced computer skills Working knowledge of machine safety protocols Basic CNC knowledge EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE Technical Millwright Training or 3-5 years’ experience working in a sign or machine shop required At least three years of experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly required Thorough knowledge of load bearing capabilities of the equipment that they are responsible for managing and operating Welding experience is a plus PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or crawl The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus Employee must be able to talk and hear WORK ENVIRONMENT Due to our onsite Fabrication process, the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
