Job Description: Position Overview This position is responsible for front-end technical support to users and is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of computer hardware, software, peripherals and data communication devices.
The Technician I may also coordinate administrative activities of the help desk.
Key Responsibilities Acts as initial contact for all internal and external customer technical support required for computer workstation hardware and software, network, operating system, printing, and Internet access problems.
Duties include answering the help desk phone, recording the call, first level corrective action, problem escalation to second level when necessary.
Performs installs, upgrades, moves, and changes for computer workstation hardware and software, printers, and other peripheral devices.
Documentation and record keeping of technology problems and requests, current inventory and maintenance contracts.
Assisting department supervisor in ordering technology hardware and software and processing electronic invoice files.
What is expected of you and others at this level Has basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process Works within clearly defined standard operations procedures and or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines Works with close supervision Minimum Qualifications & Skills High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, Associate’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline is preferred 0-2 years’ relevant experience required This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed.
